須賀 しのぶすが しのぶShinobu Suga

1972年生まれ。上智大学文学部史学科卒業。

1994年、『惑星童話』で上期コバルト・ノベル大賞の読者大賞を受賞。女性向けライトノベルを中心に活躍。代表作『流血女神伝』は後に第一章『帝国の娘』が一般文庫化、およびコミカライズされている。
2007年より一般文芸に移行し、主に近現代を舞台とした歴史小説を執筆。
2013年、『芙蓉千里』三部作で第12回センスオブジェンダー賞大賞受賞、2016年に『革命前夜』で第18回大藪春彦賞受賞(第37回吉川英治文学新人賞候補)。2017年、『また、桜の国で』で第156回直木賞候補、第4回高校生直木賞受賞。

他に、WWⅡドイツを舞台とした『神の棘』(第13回大藪春彦賞候補)、太平洋戦争時の海軍士官を描く『紺碧の果てを見よ』、幕末舞台の『荒城に白百合ありて』、大正時代の『くれなゐの紐』等がある。
野球小説も多く手がけており、高校野球を題材とした『雲は湧き、光あふれて』三部作と『夏の祈りは』、戦後の高校野球復活を描く『夏空白花』(第9回山田風太郎賞候補)、社会人野球の『ゲームセットにはまだ早い』がある。


Shinobu Suga was born in 1972. She graduated in History from Sophia University’s faculty of Letters. In 1994, she won the Cobalt Readers’ Award with Wakusei dōwa (Planet Fairy Tale). She mainly writes light novels for women. The first volume of her Ryūketsu megami den (Life of the Bleeding Goddess) series, Teikoku no musume (The Empire’s Daughter), has been adapted into manga. In 2007, she shifted her focus to general literature, writing historical novels mainly set in modern and contemporary times. In 2013, she won the of the 12th Sense of Gender Award for her Fuyō senri (Far Away) trilogy. She won in 2016 the 18th Haruhiko Oyabu Award with Kakumei zenya (The Night Before Revolution), which was also selected for the 37th Yoshikawa Eiji Literary Prize for New Writers. In 2017, Mata, sakura no kuni de (See You in the Land of Cherry Blossoms) was selected for the 156th Naoki Prize and won the 4th High School Students’ Naoki Prize. Her other works include Kami no toge (God’s Thorns), which is set in World War II Germany, and was nominated for the 13th Haruhiko Oyabu Award; Konpeki no hate o mite yo (Look at the Far Azure), which depicts the life of naval officers during the Pacific War; Kōjō ni shirayuri arite (White Lilies over the Ruined Castle), which is set at the end of the Edo period; and Kurenai no himo (Kurenai’s String), which is set in the Taisho period. She has also written many novels about baseball, including the Kumo wa waki, hikari afurete (Rising Clouds, Overflowing Light) trilogy and Natsu no inori wa (A Summer Prayer); Natsuzora shirobana (White Flowers in the Summer Sky), which was nominated for the 9th Futaro Yamada Award; and Gēmu setto ni wa mada hayai (It’s Not Game Over Yet).
