Sanzo Kusaka is a mystery and science fiction researcher, as well as a freelance editor. He strives to reprint old works that are no longer available. He is the author of Nihon SF zenshū sōkaisetsu (A Complete Introduction to Japanese SF), published by Hayakawa shobo, and Misuteri kōsaten (At the Crossroad of Mystery), published by Hon no zasshisha. He edited Amagi Hajime no misshitsu hanzaigaku kyōtei (A Course on Hajime Amagi’s Locked-Room Criminology), which received the 5th Honkaku Mystery Award for Best Critical Work; Tsutsui Yasutaka: jisaku o kataru (Yasutaka Tsutsui: About His own Works), which received the 50th Seiun Award; the 12 volumes of Nenkan nihon SF kessakusen (Annual Collection of Japanese SF Masterpieces), co-edited with Nozomi Ohmori, which received the 40th Japan SF Grand Prize; the 6 volumes of Nihon SF kessakusen (Collection of Japanese SF Masterpieces); the 8 volumes of SF shōto sutōrī kessaku korekushon (Collection of SF Short Story Masterpieces); the 3 volumes of Hanmura Ryō korekushon (The Collected Works of Ryo Hanmura); the 3 volumes of Yamada Masaki korekushon (The Collected Works of Masaki Yamada); the 7 volumes of Tsutsui Yasutaka korekushon (The Collected Works of Yasutaka Tsutsui); the 3 volumes of Hanmura Ryō korekushon: isekai hen (The Collected Works of Ryo Hanmura: The Isekai Series); the 3 volumes of Yokota Jun’ya meiji shōsetsu korekushon (The Collected Meiji-Era Novels of Jun’ya Yokota); and the ongoing Nihon SF kessaku shirīzu (Japanese SF Masterpiece Series).
