北原 尚彦Naohiko Kitahara
1962年東京生まれ。青山学院大学理工学部物理学科卒。作家・翻訳家・ホームズ研究家・古書研究家。
日本ＳＦ作家クラブでは第21代事務局長を務めた。日本古典ＳＦ研究会会長。
1990年に小説家デビュー。小説は『首吊少女亭』『死美人辻馬車』などヴィクトリアン幻想譚や、『ジョン、全裸連盟へ行く』『ホームズ連盟の事件簿』などのホームズ・パスティーシュを得意とする。
研究・エッセイは『ＳＦ奇書天外』『ＳＦ万国博覧会』『初歩からのシャーロック・ホームズ』など。
翻訳はキム・ニューマン『モリアーティ秘録』など。
ドラマ監修は『ミス・シャーロック』など。

Naohiko Kitahara was born in Tokyo in 1962. He graduated in Physics from Aoyama Gakuin University’s faculty of Science and Engineering. He is an author, a translator, a Sherlock Holmes scholar, and does research on rare old books. He served as the 21st SFWJ’s Head of Secretariat and is the Chairman of the Research Society on Japanese Classical Science Fiction. He made his debut as a novelist in 1990. His works include Victorian fantastic tales such as Kubitsuri shōjo-tei (The Hanging Girl) and Shibijin tsujibansha (Dead Beauty Street Carriage); and Sherlock Holmes pastiches such as Jon, zenra remei e iku (John, We’re Going to the Stark-Naked League) and Hōmuzu renmei no jikenbō (The Holmes League Case Files).
His research papers and essays include “SF kisō tengai (Amazing SF),” SF bankokuhakurankai (SF World Exposition-,” and “Shoho kara no shārokku hōmuzu (An Introduction to Sherlock Holmes).” His translations include Kim Newman’s Professor Moriarty: The Hound of the D’Urbervilles. He also supervised the TV series Miss Sherlock. He won the Japan Sherlock Holmes Award for Shārokku hōmuzu koten jikenjō (Sherlock Holmes’s Classic Case Files). Shārokku hōmuzu shūshū (Sherlock Holmes Collection) was selected for the Japan Mystery Writers Association Award. Shārokku hōmuzu-go jiten (The Sherlock Holmes Dictionary) was selected for the Japan Mystery Writers Association Award and the Honkaku Mystery Award, and it also won the Japan Sherlock Holmes Award. Shārokku hōmuzu no kenchiku (The Architecture of Sherlock Holmes) was also selected for the Honkaku Mystery Award.
